Industrial Lining for New Waste Water Bund, with Salt Tank and Pit Area
This project involved the installation of GRP industrial linings to protect a newly constructed cast concrete waste water bund designed to house three waste water tanks, a salt tank, and a three-metre-deep pit. The client required a durable, long-lasting solution to provide total containment and protection against water, chemicals, and corrosion.
The 3m-deep pit was completed first, with a water-resistant GRP lining system applied to ensure a fully sealed and watertight surface. This lining was designed to withstand constant immersion and prevent leaks or structural damage over time. Once the pit was complete, our team proceeded to line the floor and walls of the main waste water bund, plinth, and pit areas using a combined GRP and epoxy coating system. This dual-application method provided enhanced resistance to both mechanical wear and chemical attack, guaranteeing long-term reliability.
To complete the project, an additional smaller acid silo bund and a chemical loading pit area were also fully encapsulated with GRP lining, ensuring consistent performance across all containment zones. The finished system created a seamless, impermeable barrier throughout the entire installation — offering the client a robust, low-maintenance, and cost-effective solution that will protect against leaks, spills, and corrosion for many years to come.v
Lining the deep pit area
The first stage of this project focused on the 3-metre-deep pit area, which was lined with a waste water–resistant GRP system to provide a strong, watertight, and corrosion-proof surface. Completing this section first ensured full containment integrity and created a durable base for the subsequent installation of the main bund and adjoining areas.

With all surface preparation complete, the concrete bund area was now fully cleaned, keyed, and ready for the application of fibreglass matting. This crucial stage provides the foundation for the GRP lining system, ensuring maximum adhesion, strength, and long-term durability once the resin and topcoat layers are applied.
