GRP Lining for Flammable Liquid Storage Tank Bund
Before any work begins, we complete a comprehensive Method Statement and Risk Assessment, fully supported by COSHH documentation to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance.
The project began with thorough surface preparation of the bund, including grit blasting to remove all debris, contaminants, and surface coatings. This process provided a clean, textured finish to create the perfect key for the subsequent fibreglass matting stage.
A fibreglass lining system was selected as the most effective and practical solution for sealing the complex internal geometry of the bunded containment area. This approach allows full encapsulation of all internal walls, gullies, and sumps, ensuring a seamless and continuous barrier.
The flammable liquid storage tank bund was completely lined in GRP, including all wall surfaces and tank supports, followed by the application of a high-quality topcoat for additional protection. The completed GRP lining formed a fully sealed, oil- and water-tight environment, capable of containing any potential spillages within the bund.
The result is a strong, durable, and flexible chemical-resistant lining with a smooth, ceramic-like finish. In effect, it creates a “bund within a bund”, providing a secondary layer of containment that is both impermeable and resistant to the liquids being stored, ensuring long-term protection and compliance.

Our step-by-step guide to a Fibreglass Bund Lining
1. Prior to all activities we carry out a comprehensive Method Statement and Risk Assesment, supported by COSHH.
2. Preparation to the bund surfaces, grit blasting, removing all debris, cleaning and providing a key for fibreglass matting.
3. A fibreglass lining is the only practical solution for sealing in complicated structures in a bunded containment area.
4. The new fibreglass lining encloses all internal walls, gullies and sumps.
5. A bund within a bund, the new fibreglass lining will be resistant and impermeable to the liquids being stored.
6. Completed GRP fibreglass lining to the flammable liquid storage tank bunded area.
7. GRP lining complete, bund now fully encapsulated, including all internal wall surfaces and tank supports.
8. GRP lining creates a sealed environment, oil and water tight containing any potential spillages within the bund.
9. Specialised bund linings for all types of industrial storage and process tanks, no matter how big or small.
