GeoMet seating helps Students win gold at RHS Flower Show Tatton 2014

White Cube seats and planters from our contemporary GeoMet range formed part of an innovative edible garden design that won a gold medal at the 2014 Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Flower Show at Tatton Park in Cheshire.

Cube seats and planters -
urban garden furniture solution

Designed and delivered by a group of ten Foundation Degree Garden and Landscape Design students from Reaseheath College, the main focus of the award winning garden, entitled 'A Taste of Wythenshawe' was sustainable living.

With this in mind, the designers needed to ensure that only environmentally friendly elements were incorporated into the garden, which included garden furniture, as Kim Eastham, one of the students involved in the project, explained:

"We wanted our garden to be impactful and thought-provoking, both in terms of its visual appeal and its environmental message.

We needed eye-catching, contemporary, plain white seating for the garden's social community space that was also sustainable, waterproof and cube shaped."

space planning

She continued: "When we found the Sui Generis GeoMet range we were delighted because it was everything we wanted. It fitted within the design, stood out but didn't detract from the planting and other features, and finally, supported the overall sustainability ethos of the garden.

Being lightweight and virtually maintenance free, it was also incredibly easy to work with.

Thanks to Sui Generis and our hard work we were delighted to win top prize at the show and gain national media attention about our design."

When contacted by Reaseheath College, Mark Went, Managing Director at Sui Generis was more than happy to help:

"Six white seats and two white planters from our GeoMet range we used for the duration of the show. We felt that the inclusion of our products in their garden would help the students to achieve a great design and it complemented our own message on sustainability.

It was also a great opportunity for us to be involved in such a high profile horticultural event."
