One of our clients makes upmarket potato snacks from high quality ingredients – and it needs to use lots of oil to make its products on a large enough scale.
1. The tank bund is 9 metres by 8 metres, and over a metre high.
The problem – a leaking bund
The only problem was that the company had a leaking bund, which would have caused major problems if sunflower oil or rapeseed oil had emptied into it.
So they came to us and asked whether we could help get their bund oil-tight once again – they only wanted to worry about making great snacks.
2. Rapeseed oil had leaked into the bund. Special caustic cleaners were used, then grit blasting in preparation for matting.
The solution – a fibreglass lining
The clients’ bund is 9 metres by 8 metres, and over a metre high.
A long lasting solution was needed, so we recommended a GRP bund lining.
GRP (fibreglass) is strong, flexible and has a much longer lifespan than other coatings or linings – a good 20+ years.

And now the work’s done, they’re free to concentrate on making their snacks – and won’t have to worry about that problem bund for at least a couple of decades.
