Leaking Sprinkler Tank Rescued in Aberdeenshire
Sui Generis were called in to save a leaking 135 cubic meter sprinkler tank in historic Aberdeenshire in the North East of Scotland.
The tank was metal framed externally, timber framed internally with a butyl liner which was leaking and attempts to fix the liner had proven unsuccessful.
After an initial site survey to ascertain the extent of remedial works required, Sui Generis were appointed to carry out a full tank relining using GRP (fibreglass).
1. 135m3 water sprinkler tank with a leaking butyl liner, attempts to repair it so far had been unsuccessful.
Wall and Floor Lining
Firstly, the failed butyl liner was removed which allowed inspection of the plywood interior lining. The timber liner was deemed to be in too poor condition to be reused and so it was replaced entirely.
Next, any contamination was removed, and all surfaces carefully prepared to receive the GRP lining. The tank floor was re-levelled and new floor sheets carefully applied and bonded.
Once the preparation was complete the tank received a 4-coat hand applied GRP lining with the final gel coat completing the watertight seal.
The finished liner was left to fully cure over 7 days then given a thorough inspection to ensure complete coverage before handing back to the client.
2. Failed butyl liner removed, existing interior inspected and all plywood walls replaced.

4. Tank fully relined with 4 coat hand applied fibreglass system.
5. Final gel coat applied providing complete seal, finished liner allowed to fully cure over 7 days.
