GRP Lining for New Internal Chemical Storage Silos Bund
For this project, a GRP lining system was designed and installed from the very beginning of construction to maximise the lifespan of a new internal tank bund. The bund was purpose-built to contain chemical storage silos within an industrial facility, where long-term durability and resistance to chemical attack were key requirements. The structure comprised a concrete floor and three brick walls, with the fourth side left open to allow installation access for the tanks.
Once the GRP lining of the floor and three walls was complete, the new storage tanks were carefully manoeuvred into position within the bund. The final section of the bund wall was then constructed to enclose the area fully, after which the entire structure was encapsulated with a continuous GRP lining system, covering all internal wall surfaces, joints, and tank supports. This created a seamless, high-strength barrier that provides complete protection against leaks, corrosion, and chemical ingress.
Installing a GRP lining from the outset offers a long-term, cost-effective solution by significantly extending the operational life of the bund and reducing maintenance costs over time. The result is a low-maintenance, durable containment system that will perform reliably for many years, ensuring both environmental protection and operational peace of mind.
Tank bund lining solutions
We provide high-quality tank bund lining services that deliver simple, long-term, and cost-effective protection against leaks, spills, and corrosion. Whether you are refurbishing an existing bund or constructing a new one, our Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) lining systems offer a robust and reliable solution for all types of spill containment and chemical storage applications.
In this project, the client chose to install a fibreglass lining from the outset as part of the new bund construction. This proactive approach maximised the durability and lifespan of the structure, providing a fully sealed, chemically resistant environment before the tanks were even commissioned. By incorporating a GRP lining early in the build, future maintenance costs are minimised, and the risk of leaks or surface degradation is virtually eliminated — ensuring long-term safety, compliance, and performance.
Wall and floor lining complete
With the GRP lining of the floor and three walls completed, the bund was now fully prepared for the next stage of installation. The chemical storage tanks could then be carefully manoeuvred into position, ready for final assembly and enclosure. The smooth, seamless fibreglass surface provided a clean, durable, and chemically resistant base, ensuring complete protection from the moment the system was brought into operation.
