British Airways i360 and Corona seating – a perfect match for Brighton seafront
British Airways i360, a futuristic new landmark structure on Britain’s south coast, is destined to become an architectural icon of the 21st century, rising as it does 450ft above the resort’s famous promenade.
When Marks Barfield Architects were looking for equally distinctive seating designs, for the area around the base of the British Airways i360, they naturally turned to Sui Generis for a 21st century solution.
And they found the answer in the clean lines of our minimalist Corona modular seating concept. Designed to make a bold and modern statement yet be easy to maintain and keep looking good; a very important consideration knowing what havoc the storm-laden winter weather can wreak upon the exposed English Channel coastline.
Corona seating. A stunning contemporary composite seating concept to complement the futuristic British Airways i360 pod.
A stylish seating solution
The Corona design, with separate units forming a circle or part-circle, was the perfect aesthetic foil for the stunning circular design of the British Airways i360 viewing pod itself.
These new seating units provide a place for visitors to contemplate the views and breathe the sea air while waiting for their ‘flight’.
When asked how the new seating was being received, Alex Butterworth, British Airways i360 Facilities and Maintenance Manager said:
“The new Corona seating is really getting noticed, it looks amazing next to the British Airways i360 pod and really fits in with the whole futuristic look of the project. The entire process from ordering to installation could not have been easier. Sui Generis delivered a faultless product, on time and on budget.”
