Methods and Disciplines

Blast Cleaning

Blast Cleaning

Suitable for most types of surfaces including steel, alloys, concrete and plastic substrates. The quality of exposed surface, whether for decontamination or a protective coating, is dependant on the choice of correct equipment, appropriate blasting media and the skill of the operatives.

Blasting Media

Steel
Chilled iron
Iron Silicate
Aluminium oxide
Glass beads
Ceramic beads
Plastic media
Nutshells
Garnet
Various Grits

Steam Cleaning & Pressure Washing

These have a valuable place in our surface preparation arsenal. This process is useful for cleaning surfaces that do not require full preparation but need a clean substrate to overcoat.
In industrial situations it is often used for such applications as degreasing and removal of avian detritus

Ultra High Pressure (UHP) Water Jetting

Water forced through a rotating jet at up to 42000 psi is able to cut through concrete and other tough surfaces. This method of preparation is extremely effective in difficult environments, especially where dust is an unacceptable hazard, for example when removing lead based paint. It can be employed as an acceptable alternative to other traditional forms of dry preparation methods. Removal of existing coatings is absolute and will reveal a completely original surface or a previously created profile. Modern coatings are now designed to be suitable for application over UHP water jetted surfaces i.e. a damp or gingered surface.
