The history of the Sui Generis Bundstand

Way back in 1996 Sui Generis were commissioned by Esso to design a spill containment unit for 1000 litre IBC units.
The task
Whilst there were other products on the market they were in their infancy and too expensive to be supplied by our client on a subsidized or free issue basis. The brief was to supply a tough durable long-term solution but at an extremely competitive price.
This was the type of challenge our founder member and M.D. could not resist.
The solution
He thought long and hard about the design, in order to keep costs down it needed to be manufactured using the minimum of materials but quick and easy to mould.
The strength had to come from its shape.
The solution in the end was a simple one - four strong vertical angle supports held in place by the walls that create the bund.
The name
Once the design had been tested and approved a name was needed, what should we call it? He thought long and hard once again - it was a bund, and a stand, “I know, a Bundstand!!!”
And so was born the Sui Generis Bundstand, now eleven years old and still one of the most competitive spill containment units on the market.
