Containment Solutions

The photograph (right) shows two un-bunded diesel tanks. Spill containment protection should be built using 220mm hollow concrete blocks over steel starter bars (2 per block) to the full height of the wall. Hollows should be concrete filled as laid and the walls at least 750mm from the tanks. A sump should be included and for maximum pollution protection an internal lining applied.

The drum storage facility (right) would benefit from a sealed ramp at the entrance to allow fork lift truck entry but to seal in any leaks. The facility then needs lining across the entire floor and perhaps 100mm up the walls.

The photograph below depicts a maze of walkways, pipes, stands, tanks, machines etc., all of which are in the same bunded area. The bund wall is only 150mm high but damage has occured. This needed reinstating and the entire area sealed with a high build epoxy coating. Sui Generis also offer a selection of Spill Trays and other Spill Containment Solutions.

Bunds created in-situ

Production lines can generate liquid spills and uncontrolled discharges. Such spills can escape to drains or ground, creating slippery floors or be spread by foot traffic. In any such case some form of control is required for pollution and health and safety reasons.

The pictures (right below) show how a production area can be bunded by creating a low retaining wall and lining the whole area with fibreglass. This offers total design flexibility as any shape or line can be created.

The idea, of course, is to contain waste liquid to a given area to ensure control and make good housekeeping easy.
