Pool Refurbishment

At Sui Generis we specialise in swimming pool refurbishment using glass reinforced plastic (GRP) to line the existing pool. This, in effect, provides a new pool within the old structure offering a long lasting, low maintenance and attractive alternative to replacement - at a fraction of the cost.
Our expertise has grown from projects successfully completed on all shapes and sizes of private pools and swimming pool refurbishment, council run leisure complexes and holiday centres. Each project is individually assessed on-site by our experienced team of technicians, the problem identified, and a detailed analysis and quote provided.

Amazingly, the whole project can be completed in just 5 days! A GRP lining can be easily applied to any shape or size of pool, water feature or ride to provide a permanent, high performance and attractive upgrade. GRP linings provide a beautiful seamless finish, are available in a choice of colours and decorative finishes, are maintenance free and hygienic.

Old coatings are removed using high pressure grit blasting which also creates a clean profiled surface in preparation for the new lining. Often we need to erect temporary weather proof covers that also serve as an airborne dust container (see photos above).

- Case Study
Warrington Baths
Warrington baths (pictured above right) is cared for by Warrington Council. The pool, about 50 years old, was in dire need of refurbishment. Tiling and Pool Projects of Sale in Cheshire are long term associates of Sui Generis and they received instruction from the Council to install a Sui Generis fibreglass lining. The instructions included for the inclusion of lane lines and 'step end' markers. Slip resistant beads were included in the top coat where risks were identified. As can be seen from the photographs the project was carried out to the highest possible standard and the effect was magnificent.
Alexandra Palace
At the Palm Court entrance of the beautiful Alexandra Palace is a tasteful water feature (pictured above right) designed to please and sooth visitors. During a brief shutdown Sui Generis prepared and lined the internal surfaces to restore the high standard of finish that one expects to find at Alexandra Palace.
St Peter's Square, Bristol
At St Peter's Square in Bristol City Centre is a water feature measuring about 100 feet in length. Vandalism and time had taken its toll and water was escaping from numerous places. We erected a full length weather proof cover and a black GRP lining was installed. If you are ever in Bristol the park is worthy of a visit and the quality of the lining is something to behold.
