The world-renowned Snape Maltings Concert Hall is situated alongside the River Alde, and the venue is also home to an array of independent shops, galleries and eateries. Snape is a stunning place to visit boasting strolls along its many boardwalks to view spectacular sculptures by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.

The show, which launched the careers of Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson and Alexander McQueen, will once again be showcasing the UK’s top design talent.

Sui Generis outdoor furniture features at RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Sui Generis’ striking yet contemporary ranges of GRP fibreglass outdoor furniture and water features will be taking centre stage at the Chelsea Flower Show (21-25 May 2013).

The Sui Generis team has arrived at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show and is preparing for next week’s opening.

The beautiful handmade constructions have been chosen by nursery and garden centre, Hillier, to help them retain their world-record breaking run of gold medals at the annual flower show.For a bold new look to their Chelsea exhibit, Hillier has taken on the theme of ‘Risk’, and chose Sui Generis’ serpentine seats in telemagenta pink as a key element. The fibreglass designershave also created a bespoke circular table to complete the innovative garden design.

Andrew McIndoe, Managing Director, Hillier, explains why Sui Generis’ modernistic designs were ideal for this year’s display. He says: “Hillier is approaching their 150th year and we’re not lookingback at our past successes we’re looking forward to the future. Sui Generis’ sculptural designs are ideal for our garden.”

Hillier’s garden will be the largest exhibit at the show and will also feature two of Sui Generis’ Aqua Corona water features. The smooth-to-touch curved water features will create an area ofcalm within the dramatic display.

Mark Went, Managing Director, Sui Generis, is delighted to be at the world-famous flower show. He says: “We’re extremely proud and excited to be selected by Hillier’s top garden designer. We’re really looking forward to helping Hillier achieve another gold in the Chelsea Flower Show’s 100th anniversary year.”

GRP Lining of 3 Cooling Towers at Lloyd’s of London

Keeping their cool on the market floor is essential to brokers; that’s why Vistech Cooling systems called in the specialist services of Sui Generis to fibreglass line three cooling towers on the top of the impressive Lloyd’s of London building.

Lloyd’s of London is the world’s leading insurance market providing specialist insurance services to businesses in over 200 countries. The company employs thousands of staff at their London headquarters, and needed to keep their air-conditioning system performing to optimum levels.

Sui Generis started by grit blasting the cooling towers’ internal surfaces to prepare the structures for fibreglass lining. This task alone was no mean feat: 160 metres of hose had to be pulled up the side of the building before the grit blasting could begin. The surface preparation work was completed at weekends to ensure nobody working at Lloyd’s would be disturbed.

Once the surface had been suitably prepared the Sui Generis Fibreglass lining was applied, each of the three towers were upgraded separately to ensure the building was fully air-conditioned at all times. In total an area of 310 square meters of fibreglass lining was applied ensuring the internal surfaces of the towers will be in good condition for many years to come.

Internal cooling pack platforms were also replaced with Sui Generis Fibreglass grating to complete the long term upgrades.

The Director, at Vistech Cooling Systems was impressed. He says:

“Sui Generis was very responsive and completed all tasks on time. It is essential to trust a sub-contractor as they need to fit in around our schedule. Sui Generis did everything we asked of them and we would definitely work with them again.”

The problem – a leaking GRP water storage tank

A large water storage tank was in a hard-to-reach loft space above a stairwell. It was leaking from the joints, but it was impossible to determine exactly from where. The body of the tank itself was in good order and wasn’t damaged or worn.

The solution – hand preparation and GRP fibreglass lamination lining

Sui Generis’s experienced team was able to repair the tank with a GRP lining within a week with minimal disruption, despite the challenges posed by poor access, baffles, bolts and infill panels…
